Angel Tree Campaign for SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School is Now Open
In an effort to brighten the holidays for some East St. Louis teens, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Charter High School (CHS) has been raising funds to deliver holiday cheer to its students for the past 15 years through its annual Angel Tree Campaign.
This year’s campaign is in full swing, with a goal of raising $15,000, according to CHS Director Gina Jeffries, EdD.
“The Angel Tree Campaign was created to support our scholars who were in need and to give each scholar a gift at the holidays,” said Jeffries. “For the neediest students, CHS will go the extra mile and provide essential items like school supplies, clothing and personal hygiene products.”
“We are counting on our University community to once again help us raise funds to support CHS parents, families and scholars,” said CHS treasurer Anne DeToye, business administrative associate in the SIUE School of Education, Health and Human Behavior (SEHHB).
“SIUE has been wonderful in responding to our efforts in providing for those without during the holiday season,” DeToye added.
Moreover, the CHS administration, faculty and staff work tirelessly to brighten the holidays for students, according to SEHHB Director of Development Nick Niemerg.
“This campaign is truly grassroots, all-hands-on-deck endeavor,” said Niemerg. “The outstanding faculty and staff at CHS are fully invested in making sure every student feels appreciated and a part of the CHS community with this campaign.”
“The true spirit of the holiday is about coming together to make the world a better place,” added Niemerg.
